E360 means low engine oil pressure, according to the HeavyEquipmentFix fault-code database. On a Cat 360 that is not running, the code may simply appear because the engine has zero oil pressure with the key on. It does not by itself prove the oil pump has failed.

First checks

1. Engine oil level: Park level and check the dipstick. Bring it to the full mark, but do not overfill. Look for fuel dilution, coolant contamination, or unusually thin oil.
2. Cranking speed: A weak battery or poor ground can crank the engine too slowly to start and still produce an oil-pressure fault. Check for approximately 24 V during cranking if this is a 24-volt machine.
3. Oil-pressure sensor and wiring: Inspect the sensor connector near the oil filter housing. A shorted signal wire or failed sensor can report low pressure even when pressure is normal.
4. Mechanical oil pressure: Install a mechanical gauge at the engine oil-pressure test port and check pressure while cranking. If pressure does not build, stop cranking and inspect the oil pickup, pump, relief valve, and bearings. Do not keep trying to start it.

If the engine cranks normally and mechanical pressure is present, test the sensor circuit and clear the event with Cat ET. If the engine has no pressure while cranking, the no-start must be treated as an engine lubrication failure before checking fuel or injection.

Cat’s published engine documentation shows that low-oil-pressure shutdown thresholds vary by engine and operating speed, so the exact limit must come from the engine model and serial number, not a generic Cat 360 specification.
